Paul Harmer is a Chartered Engineer and Technical Director at the CIPHE which is an educational charity with the sole purpose of protecting the safety and health of the public. He has been involved with low carbon heating from a consumer facing perspective for more than 26 years with experience in the installation, design, innovation and manufacturing of low carbon products. He has a vast amount of experience in understanding the real value proposition for both the installer and consumer looking at the real pains and gains of heat decarbonisation. Harmer has been supporting BEIS in heat policy for more than two years and is a member of the BEIS Off Grid Council which aims to develop effective collaboration between all stakeholders. As an Engineer Harmer has been involved with many disruptive innovation projects in the heat distribution sector and has authored many technical reports on best practice design and installation of heating technologies. He is currently horizon scanning the future energy mix for hydrogen and electricity and how current innovation in materials and technology may change our current outlook of decarbonisation.
