I started in the building services industry in 1980 as an apprentice pipe fitter welder/ H&V engineer, continuing in a fully qualified capacity for a number of years.
Seeking further experience and opportunity I changed direction and joined a heating maintenance company as a boiler engineer, where I first got a taste of the black art of controls and electrical services. Following on with new qualifications I again looked for new challenges, where upon I found myself working for a M&E consultant as a Design engineer gaining a wealth of experience on the services design side of the industry.
Finally some years later I arrived back working for a mechanical services installation company and commenced my career in the world of contracting.
Starting as an assistant contracts engineer I worked my way up the ladder with various companies, when 10 years ago I joined LJJ LTD as a Contracts Manager, quickly progressing to operations manager, Contracts Director and then to regional Operations Director where I find myself today.
Having been in the industry in one form or another for 38 years I have been privileged see the growth and changes coming from resource, technology, innovation and sustainability, which have all added to having made my working life both challenging but rewarding.
