Tony joined the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) as Director of Training in April 2016, with a remit to define and execute a skills and education strategy to meet the needs of members of the association and the broader building engineering services sector.
Prior to joining BESA, Tony worked at CITB for over 10 years, giving him detailed knowledge of skills and training requirements in construction and the built environment, building on over 25 years’ experience in the field of policy, vocational education and skills. Having worked both domestically and internationally, Tony is experienced at deploying engineering training programmes from one country to another, identifying the best solutions for skills requirements globally.
In addition to meeting member company’s apprenticeship and short course needs, Tony has been involved in the development of a number of Building Engineering Services Trailblazer standards, has facilitated the rollout of the Apprenticeship Levy guidelines to members, and is spearheading a focus on diversity as a means to tackling the skills gap within the sector.
